Three Century Toastmasters Recognized for Contributions

Century Toastmasters held its first Officer Induction & Awards' Dinner at the La Jolla Shores Hotel on July 8, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

The three recipients were: Ferdonya Henderson -- Toastmaster of the Year, Melissa Day -- Spark Plug of the Year, and Rob Cross -- Most Improved Speaker of the Year.

Earlier in the evening District 5 Lieutenant Governor Rhonda Walthall attended the dinner and inducted the new officers for the next six-member term. The new officers inducted were: Vince Reardon, president, Ferdonya Henderson, vice president of membership, Rob Cross, vice president of public relations, Brenda Gettig, sergeant of arms and Duncan Mathison, secretary.

Walthall also thanked the contributions of the outgoing officers, including Melissa Day -- vice president of education, Jim Groen -- Treasurer, Amanda Johnston -- secretary.

Doug Goodman was the very able Toastmaster of the evening and Rob Cross did a very enjoyable 15-minute stand-up comedy routine.
